Biobank Norway is a nationally coordinated research infrastructure that supports high-quality health and biomedical research across Norway. It brings together population-based, clinical and veterinary biobanks, providing access to well-characterized biological samples and associated health data for research and innovation.

Through harmonized services, advanced technologies, quality standards, and national coordination, Biobank Norway enables secure collection, preservation, sharing, and reuse of biospecimens and data. The infrastructure supports research across a broad range of fields, including epidemiology, clinical medicine, precision medicine, life sciences, and data science. It also promotes responsible data use, participant engagement, and sustainable biobanking practices.

Biobank Norway is also the Norwegian node of Biobanking and Biomolecular Research Infrastructure – European Research Infrastructure Consortium (BBMRI-ERIC). Through this collaboration, it contributes to the development of international standards and research initiatives and strengthens Norway’s participation in European biobanking and health data networks.
