01.Norwegian University of Science and Technology
NTNU is the host institution of Biobank Norway and houses major infrastructure resources such as the HUNT Study, HUNT Biobank, HUNT Databank, and HUNT Cloud. Through its long-standing investments in population-based biobanking and secure analysis environments, NTNU plays a central role in national large-scale health data and precision medicine research.
02.Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH)
NIPH manages many of Norway’s key national health data resources, including registries, biobanks, and large population-based studies such as the MoBa cohort. It also hosts national services for metadata and secure access to health data, making it a core actor in linking research, policy, and health data infrastructures.
03.University of Oslo (UiO)
UiO contributes advanced expertise in genomics, large-scale analytics, and secure computing through infrastructures such as TSD. The university plays an important role in developing analytical pipelines and incorporating big data and AI approaches into biobank-enabled research.
04.UiT The Arctic University of Norway (UiT)
UiT hosts several major population-based studies with long-term follow-up and associated biobanks, including the Tromsø Study, the all-female NOWAC study, and the Sami population study SAMINOR. With strong competence in biobank governance and data management, UiT contributes essential cohort resources and methodological expertise.

University of Bergen (UiB)
UiB has significant expertise in biostatistics, genetic epidemiology, and registries, and it hosts the HUSK Study and multiple clinical and disease-specific biobanks. The university supports major initiatives in precision medicine and secure high-performance computing for sensitive research data.

Cancer Registry of Norway (CRN)
CRN manages comprehensive national cancer registries and several large biobanks, including the long-standing Janus Serum Bank. It contributes deep expertise in cancer epidemiology, biomarker research, and linkage of biobank and registry data.
07.Northern Norway Regional Health Authority (HN)
HN supports high-quality biobanking for ethically approved research through secure, long-term storage of human biological samples at the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN). This includes a dedicated collection of cancer samples in the general oncology biobank and provides infrastructure and expertise to strengthen clinical and translational research.

St. Olavs Hospital operates extensive clinical research biobanks and collaborates closely with NTNU on integrating clinical data and biobank infrastructures. It provides strong capabilities in clinical data systems and supports research that bridges clinical practice and biobank resources.

Western Norway Regional Health Authority (HV)
HV develops and maintains biobank infrastructure across Western Norway, particularly at Haukeland and Stavanger University Hospitals. It has contributed key innovations in automated biobanking, sample tracing, and digital consent solutions.

Vestre Viken Hospital Trust (VV)
VV participates on behalf of the largest health region in Norway (South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority) and contributes to clinical research and biobank development across multiple hospital trusts. The region provides important clinical collections and supports integration of biobanking into routine hospital-based research.

Oslo University Hospital (OUS)
OUS is Norway’s largest biomedical research institution and hosts extensive biobank infrastructure covering research, diagnostic, and treatment biobanks. The hospital contributes leading expertise in clinical integration, quality management, and national-scale biomedical research.

Norwegian Directorate of Health (NDH)
NDH is responsible for implementing national health policy and plays an important role in public health, preparedness, and regulatory development. It contributes strategic and regulatory perspectives that ensure biobank and data infrastructures align with national priorities and future frameworks such as EHDS.

NVI provides One Health perspectives through biobanking and analysis of animal, food, and environmental samples. With advanced automated biobank facilities and extensive diagnostic and surveillance expertise, it supports cross-sectoral research essential for integrated health and preparedness efforts.
